Evacuation Chair Training & PEEPs

Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans — a safe way out for everyone.

A fire strategy only works if it works for every person in the building. Anyone who might need assistance evacuating — because of a mobility impairment, a visual or hearing impairment, a cognitive condition, a temporary injury, or any other reason — needs a plan that's been thought through in advance, not improvised in the moment.

AJR Facilities Management provides Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) support and evacuation chair training, helping your organisation prepare safe, practical evacuation arrangements for people with disabilities and anyone else who needs support to get out safely.

What We Provide

  • Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) — individual evacuation arrangements tailored to a person's specific needs
  • Evacuation chair training — hands-on, practical instruction in the safe use of evacuation chairs on stairs and through your building
  • Guidance on identifying who may need a PEEP, and how to put one in place
  • Advice on equipment selection and placement for your building
  • Refresher training to keep staff confident and equipment properly maintained

Why It Matters

Under the Equality Act 2010, employers and building operators have a duty to make reasonable adjustments, and a fire evacuation plan that leaves some people without a workable way out falls short of that duty. Beyond compliance, staff who are trained and equipped to help a colleague or visitor evacuate can make the difference between a safe evacuation and a dangerous delay.

Our Process

  1. Get in touch — tell us about your building and who needs a PEEP
  2. We assess individual needs and the practicalities of your building
  3. We put PEEPs in place and train your staff on evacuation chairs
  4. We recommend a review schedule to keep plans and training current
