Build it right the first time.
It's far cheaper, and far more effective, to design a building that works for everyone than to retrofit accessibility into one that doesn't. Once a doorway is built too narrow, a level change is fixed into a floor plan, or a reception desk is set at a single height, correcting it later means breaking out finished work.
AJR Facilities Management provides inclusive design advice for new developments and refurbishment projects, working alongside architects, developers and project teams to build accessibility in from the earliest stages, rather than adding it on at the end.

- Review of design proposals and drawings against the Equality Act 2010 and BS 8300 accessibility standards
- Guidance on approach routes, entrances, circulation, and vertical access (lifts, ramps, stairs)
- Input on accessible facilities — toilets, changing places, reception and service points
- Advice on wayfinding, signage, lighting and colour contrast for people with sensory impairments
- Liaison with architects and design teams throughout the design and construction stages

Why It Matters
Getting inclusive design right at the drawing-board stage avoids costly rework, supports planning and building warrant approval, and meets the anticipatory duty to make reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010.
