What Our Audit Covers
- External approach and access — parking, dropped kerbs, ramps, steps and entrance doors
- Horizontal and vertical circulation — corridors, doorways, stairs, lifts and floor surfaces
- Facilities — accessible toilets, reception and service counters, signage and wayfinding
- Lighting, colour contrast and acoustics affecting people with sensory impairments
- Assessment against the Equality Act 2010 and current accessibility standards (BS 8300)

Why It Matters
Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and that duty is anticipatory — it applies whether or not a disabled person has yet raised an issue. An access audit gives you the evidence to act ahead of a complaint, rather than in response to one, while making your building genuinely easier for everyone to use.
